Next week, the Brooklyn College Listening Project’s new exhibition We Are Brooklyn: Immigrant Voices will be featured by the Tenement Museum in their Tenement Talks Series. The museum celebrates immigration to the Lower East Side by recreating the lives of tenants who immigrated to the United States and lived in the area. Their mission and that of the BCLP are aligned in that they seek to provide an understanding of immigrant stories and promote shared understanding and connections between communities.
On Thursday, November 8th, the BCLP director Jessica Siegel and exhibition podcast editor Leah Shaw will join project participants Julia Moran and her son and interviewee Elijah for an evening of interactive discussion about the Listening Project and its impact, as well as the timeliness of oral history work in the current climate. RSVP online to attend.
